The second annual Internet Invitational from Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports shows how seamlessly sponsors can become part of the entertainment. Dunkin' returns as presenting sponsor with its on-course drive-thru, Zyrtec has a branded Relief Hole, and Reese's sponsors a $500K hole-in-one challenge. WHOOP also brought its WHOOP Live activation from the Ryder Cup, displaying players' heart rates during high-pressure moments. With $4M on the line, there's plenty of potential for nerves. Highly recommend watching for inspiration on integrating brands without interrupting the action.
Sticking with WHOOP, the brand announced LeBron James as a global ambassador, expanding a relationship dating back to 2015, when he became one of its first 100 members. With LeBron entering his 24th NBA season, I'm curious how WHOOP will use performance and recovery data to tell the story of his longevity, building on its track record of turning athlete biometrics into compelling content.
Bayern Munich found several ways to bring partners into Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or celebration. Allianz featured in a congratulatory video, Kane filmed a trophy selfie video on a Google Pixel, and Audi received product placement in an activation delivering 73 signed footballs to people and places that shaped his journey. Each integration felt distinct and fit the occasion, showing the value of planning ahead for major sporting moments.
Arsenal and Oakley Meta teamed up for We Go Again, a cinematic film featuring Declan Rice running the club's Premier League victory parade route. But here's what makes it even better: Arsenal players actually wore Meta glasses to capture first-person footage of the celebrations five months earlier, before the Oakley Meta partnership was officially announced. The film brings that moment full circle, with brilliant production and storytelling helping generate nearly 16M Instagram views.
Williams Racing teamed up with Marvel on Avengers-themed race suits for the United States Grand Prix, generating 500K+ Instagram engagements. I've previously questioned the sponsorship value of custom F1 helmets, suits, and liveries when the featured brand gets lost among other logos. This execution gets it right: Marvel is immediately recognizable despite the surrounding sponsors.
Ahead of its Champions League match against Atlético Madrid, Manchester United revisited a highlight from its previous visit, playing it on a Snapdragon-powered phone aligned with the pitch to create an almost augmented reality-style effect. It's a clever way to put the product front and center while giving an old highlight new life between matches.
Red Bull brought three Aston Villa players in to take on the Impossible Wall, a proven challenge format used by Red Bull and Dude Perfect. The video generated 5M+ views on Red Bull XI, its football and gaming-focused Instagram account with fewer than 4,000 followers. Impressive reach and a smart use of partnership access to create content for the brand's own channels.
The Detroit Lions celebrated National Cat Day with Pet Supplies Plus by sharing photos of players with their cats. A fun, timely way to show fans another side of their favorite players while incorporating a partner into content people already love.
